The Queensland Government has given the Gold Coast Multicultural Festival elite status by nominating it as one of only 8 Queensland Festivals to be given ‘Iconic Queensland Event’ status. As a result, the Gold Coast Multicultural Festival will receive funding for the next three years (2012 – 2014) from the Queensland State Government.
The 2011 Gold Coast Multicultural Festival was a huge success with an attendance of more than 20,000 visitors, showcasing International Performers from 35 Nations on 4 Festival Stages, with more than 60 Food, Art, Craft and Information Stalls. 2012 will be the 5th year of the event, and promises to be even larger, given this new iconic event status.
Festival Association President Ben Brauer comments, "This is a huge leap of confidence for our event by the Queensland Government. I would particularly like to thank Minister Palaszczuk and the staff of Multicultural Affairs Queensland for their ongoing support".
The 2012 Gold Coast Multicultural Festival will be held at the Evandale Parklands in Bundall on Sunday September 16.
